Chris Ferguson - Coaching Coordinator

Mark Coles who was appointed to the Taita Coaching Coordinator role has now attained a full time job at Northern Districts Cricket. Taita wishes Mark all the best in his new role.

We are pleased to advise that with Marks help we have secured the services of Chris Ferguson. Chris is a level three coach and was previously:

  • NZ Cricket Junior Development Manager;
  • Japan Cricket high performance and pathways Cricket Manager; and
  • Senior member of the Canterbury Cricket coaching staff.

Chris brings a wealth of experience at both Junior and Senior levels.

Chris is completing a teaching placement at Scots College for the next five weeks and will spend a month in Christchurch finishing his teaching degree before taking up the coaching coordinator role full-time in early November.

During this time Chris will assist with the preseason training for our seniors and run a holiday program in the October school holidays.

We will be using the wider coaching group used last year to undertake any school visits prior to Chris taking on the role full-time.

On behalf of Taita Districts Cricket Club we welcome Chris and Zoe to our club.

Chris is bound to do good things at Taita, just like 'the new guy' in the 2002 hit 'the new guy'

Henry Valsh makes the list

After making his list and checking it twice, Jamie Siddons confirmed today that Henry Walsh is a nice guy and fantastic prospect for the future. Some may suggest that this should have come last season, but Walsh wasn't complaining when contacted today. He said "I'm just in the best head space right now".

Well done Henry, all of us at Taita are very proud of you and eagerly await your first game.
